Give Smaller Foor Portions to Kids

Children have smaller stomachs. They eat less. It will thus be more senseful if they have 5 or 6 mini-meals throughout the day instead of having 3 larger meals. In the morning, prepare cereal with low fat milk. Three hours later, serve a banana and graham crackers with peanut butter. Three hours later give them an orange with carrots and glass of milk, and so on.
Here are some helpful tips
* Limit giving foods with sugar, like pastries, candies, or soft drinks.
* If your children don’t like a food you serve, do not easily give up. Sometimes children take time to try something new.
* Make snacks that are nutritious for your children: cut up carrots, cereal with low fat milk, fresh fruits, cereal in a small
baggie, low fat cheese or graham crackers.
* Give smaller children smaller portions. Let them ask you if they want more.
* Do not expect a clean plate, as this can lead to overeating.
* Never use food to bargain or reward.
* Limit fat to 30% for each meal.
