Myth: Lifting weights will build up your body and will not help you lose weight
Fact: Regular exercise and strengthening activities helps maintain or lose weight, because muscles are developed and muscles actually consume or burn more calories than body fat. Even if you’re sitting still, your muscles are burning calories. The key here is regular physical and strengthening activities, and gradual decrease in activity when you plan to discontinue your work out. Abrupt discontinuation of a rigorous work out will result to fat growing around the muscled that have developed. This is probably the reason people think lifting weights is not effective.
